Pegasus is actually the priest Helios of the world of Elysion, which exists on the outskirts of the Kingdom of Dreams. He was the protector of the Golden Crystal, which was one of the most powerful talismans in the universe. Unfortunately, Nerehenia wanted the Golden Crystal to use it to bring eternal darkness to the universe and wipe out the White Moon Kingdom, but, when she could not use the Golden Crystal because of the impurity of her dreams, she captured Helios and trapped him in her dream realm. But, attracted by the light of Chibi Usa's dreams, Helios was able to hide in her dreams as Pegasus, though his physical body remained entangled by Neherenia's webs. As Pegasus, he protected the Golden Crystal, which was hidden in his horn, and hid from Neherenia, helping the Sailorsenshi to defeat the Dead Moon Circus.
Pegasus also transformed Sailormoon's Spiral Heart Moon Rod into the Moon Kaleidoscope and Sailorchibimoon's rod into the Crystal Clarion, a bell that Sailorchibimoon could use to summon Pegasus.Sailorchibimoon needed to call Pegasus in order to provide the energy that Supersailormoon could focus as an attack with the Moon Kaleidoscope.
Pegasus also eventually was able to see Chibi Usa in the real world without Chibi Usa calling him. He was able to manifest in miniature form and lived in a small globe of energy in Chibi Usa's room. There, he and Chibi Usa had many conversations and Chibi Usa became very close friends with him, often asking him for advice.
After Neherenia was defeated by the sailor senshi, Helios told the Sailorsenshi he had to return to Elysion to protect the Golden Crystal. He left ,telling Sailorchibimoon that he would never forget her. He then transformed into Pegasus and flew away.
